The stories included in this book offer a glimpse into the past, providing unique insights and perspectives on the development and growth of our village. These stories were passed down from generation to generation, preserving the rich history and tradition of our community. They offer a personal and intimate account of life in our village, giving readers a sense of what our village is all about.
As you delve into these stories, you will discover the unique quirks and customs of Cotuit life, the challenges faced by its residents, and the strong sense of community that was present in every aspect of daily life. You will also learn about the significant events and milestones that shaped the village and the people who lived here.
This book has been extremely popular. This is the third printing of the book, but this edition is a bit different. In addition to adding a few new chapters, we have scanned all the original stories, from type-written papers into electronic formats so we can preserve and celebrate our village's heritage and share it with a wider audience.
The bulk of these stories came from white papers presented over the years from our Cotuit Chronicles Lecture Series. Originally, this was how we passed on these stories to residents. Now that we have vast resources to obtain our information, our lecture series has evolved into less history specific lectures to more of regional Capewide issues and how they affect us here in Cotuit.
It is our belief that by learning about the past, we can better understand and appreciate the present, and look towards the future with a deeper appreciation for our roots.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the original storytellers and to those who have worked tirelessly to preserve these stories for future generations. We hope that this book will serve as a tribute to their valuable contributions and inspire others to continue telling the stories of our village.
We invite you to join us on this journey through the village's past and present. We hope that these stories will transport you back in time and provide a unique and memorable reading experience. Thank you for supporting our effort to keep these stories alive for years to come.
